The referee awarded a penalty after Denzel Dumfries tackled Marcus Acuna inside the penalty area.

Messi scored a penalty to give Argentina a 2-0 lead. In the 83rd minute, the Netherlands scored a goal and signaled a return to the game.

Wood Weghurst scored on Steven Berghaus’s cross to reduce Argentina’s lead to 1 goal. Then the Netherlands equalized in injury time.

Weghurst converted a clever free-kick from Burghius to level the game. Argentina will now face Croatia in the semi-finals. Croatia beat Brazil 4-2 in a tiebreaker to reach the last four.
