Croatia advanced to the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022 after defeating five-time champions Brazil in a penalty shoot-out.

Croatia reached the last four after defeating Brazil 4-2 in a penalty shootout in the Education City Stadium in Qatar’s capital Doha on Friday night.

In the penalty shootout, Brazil’s Rodrigo’s shot was blocked by Croatia’s goalkeeper Livakovic, while Marquinhos’ shot hit the post. Only Casemiro and Pedro scored for Brazil.

All the players of Croatia were successful in the penalty shootout. Before that, the match ended in a 1-1 tie after the scheduled and 30-minute extra time.

Neymar scored for Brazil in the 105th minute of the match. Neymar played a superb pass from close to the d-box before producing a superb finish that surprised the Croatia goalkeeper in the six yard box.

With the goal, Neymar equaled Pele’s record for scoring the most international goals for Brazil. Both of them have scored 77 international goals.

Croatia equalized in 117 minutes. For him, Bruno Petrovic produced a superb finish from inside the D-box.

After the scheduled 90-minute match ended in a goalless draw, 30 minutes were added to the match. More time ago, Brazil put pressure on Croatia but failed to finish.

Croatia’s goalkeeper became an obstacle in Brazil’s attempt. Brazil, under pressure after failing to score, replaced Rafinha, Vinicius Junior and Richarlison with Antony, Ridrigo and Pedro in the second half.

Croatia will now face the winner of the second quarter-final between Argentina and the Netherlands in the semi-finals.
