France has called an international conference with the aim of raising materials and money for the repair

of Ukraine’s damaged infrastructure, as well as to emphasize the continued support of Paris in Kiev’s fight against Russia.

French President Emmanuel Macron called a meeting of politicians, blue-chip companies and aid

agencies on Tuesday as he was drawn into controversy in Kiev after fresh comments about the war in Ukraine.

During an interview on December 3, Macron called on Russia to offer “security guarantees” at the end of the war, which was criticized by some Ukrainian and Eastern European politicians.

The French leader and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation on Sunday.

According to the French presidential office, Macron

“reminded President Zelensky that Ukraine can count on France’s support as long as necessary to fully restore its sovereignty and national integrity.”

Both leaders are scheduled to address the first part of the conference named “Solidarity with the Ukrainian People”.

Macron will address in person and Zelensky via video link.
